Tamil Nadu: Woman dragged several meters during attempted chain snatching in Madurai – Tamil Nadu News

A woman was violently dragged several meters during an attempted chain snatching in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The incident was captured on camera.

The incident took place on Sunday when Manjula and her husband Dwaraknath, residents of Panthadi, were out for Diwali shopping in Mattuthavani.

When Dwaraknath stopped his vehicle on the roadside, two men on a Yamaha R15 motorcycle approached the couple from behind. The attackers attacked Manjula, trying to rip the chain from her neck.

CCTV footage revealed the horrific sequence of events. While Dwarkanath parked his vehicle, Manjula was dismounting the bike when the men moved. The man sitting on the pillion tried to snatch the chain from Manjula. The chain did not break immediately, causing her to fall and be dragged several meters by the speeding bicycle.

Eventually, the chain broke, with one part falling into the hands of the culprits and the other remaining with Manjula.

Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. Authorities are working to identify and arrest the suspects.
