Actor Zachary Levi offered an answer The view Whoopi Goldberg after she claimed Hollywood is a “very right-leaning town” while also dismissing the actor’s fear of backlash over his endorsement of the former president donald trump.

Levi took to Instagram on Monday and dismissed Goldberg’s argument as out of touch, countering that she could only name two prominent actors who are publicly behind Trump because most don’t have his level of fame and roots in the industry.

“For all the people of The viewI don’t think it’s accurate to say that, in some way, Hollywood is a liberal and conservative city,” said the Shazam said the actor.

He added that he may have been more politically open and diverse “back in the day,” but “you really have to be at a certain level in your career (now) to really get away with it.”

The actor called Goldberg just quoting Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid as examples of MAGA stars who work regularly, “of the thousands of actors in Hollywood that you could only name, two actually talk about it.”

“There are many, and by the way, they have sent me a lot of messages, a lot of people in my industry, in Hollywood, who are afraid to say publicly that they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,” Levi continued. “That’s why you don’t see them. This is why they are not very prevalent or prominent. They know there are ramifications for this kind of shit,” Levi said.

The actor was once a defender of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.but supported Trump at a rally after Kennedy Jr. also supported the Republican ticket. At a rally in Michigan in September, Levi said he feared his support for Trump could mean “career suicide.”

Goldberg offered to “school” Levi in response to The view.

“That’s not necessarily true. Since the beginning of Hollywood, there has always been a very right-wing town, but I know you don’t know much about the history of Hollywood, so let me school you,” she said, naming Quaid and Voight and calling Levi’s fear of “BS.”

In his response, Levi encouraged others in his industry to speak out, saying it’s “now or never” and that Hollywood is “fucking gonzo.”

“Our industry is going to be fucking gonzo. It already is. The pandemic and strikes have already worn him down a lot. My cry to all you closet conservatives and Trump voters is now or never,” he said. “Do whatever you feel you need to do. If you need to come out publicly and say this, if you feel like you can’t do it yet, then don’t do it. I would never pressure you to do that. But know that if what you fear is in some way the reaction of an industry that won’t exist anytime soon, then don’t let that stop you.”
