A 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by her neighbor multiple times in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar after distancing herself following uncomfortable interactions, police said on Tuesday.

The accused, Ravinder Singh alias Goldy, 36, was arrested and the weapon used in the attack was recovered.

The incident occurred on Monday night around 11:30 pm when Singh entered the woman’s house and attacked her with a knife, police said.

Victim under medical supervision

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was immediately taken to hospital for surgery. “She is currently being monitored post-operation,” he said.

Case of attempted murder registered

The investigation revealed that the victim had moved to the neighborhood two years ago with her husband and children. She and Singh would talk occasionally, but when she felt uncomfortable, she started avoiding him.

Singh, feeling offended by her behavior, allegedly broke into her house and assaulted her.

Based on the victim’s statement and his medical report, the police registered a case of attempted murder.

In other news, a 29-year-old woman head constable was allegedly raped while heading to her in-laws’ house in Kanpur for Karwa Chauth celebrations, police said on Monday.

The accused, identified as 34-year-old Kallu alias Dharmendra Paswan, lived in the same neighborhood as the victim, who is a resident of Sen West Para in the city.

Kallu offered the woman a ride and, upon finding her alone, allegedly took her to a nearby field, where he assaulted her, police said.

In an attempt to defend herself, the woman bit the accused’s finger.

An FIR (No. 329/24) was lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the accused was arrested within hours of the incident, Additional Commissioner of Police (ADC) Manoj Pandey said.
