FD man arrested after robbing 2 Casey’s stores on Tuesday | News, sports, jobs

A Fort Dodge man was arrested for robbery and theft at two Casey’s stores on Tuesday, police said.

Christafer T. Perez, 20, was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, as well as two counts of fifth-degree robbery, interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn, at approximately 3:36 a.m., Perez entered Casey’s General Store at 3327 Fifth Ave. S. and demanded money from the register before leaving on foot. No weapons were displayed during the incident.

When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the victim and other witnesses who provided a description of the suspect.

Later that morning, at approximately 9:33 a.m., the Casey’s General Store at 2007 N. 15th St, contacted authorities to report that a man had just left the store without paying for items. The caller indicated that the suspect had left heading south on a bicycle.

An officer in the area quickly located a man matching the description given by the caller. The suspect tried to escape from the police, but was quickly arrested.

As officers continued to investigate the robbery, it was determined that the suspect taken into custody for the late morning robbery was the same suspect from the early morning robbery.

Perez is currently being held at the Webster County Jail.
