Ministry of Education dismisses NIOS president amid controversy

Saroj Sharma, president of the National Institute of Open Schooling, was removed from her post amid controversy surrounding her driver’s suicide. The driver left a note alleging harassment and caste discrimination by Sharma.

The Ministry of Education announced his immediate repatriation to his original department, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, following approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Pankaj Arora, Chairman of the National Council for Teacher Education, has been appointed to oversee Sharma’s former responsibilities for the next six months, according to official orders.
