Vera Farmiga releases debut single with The Yagas

Actress and well-known metal enthusiast Vera Farmiga (In the air, The incantation, The departed) has a new band. Members of the Yagas include Farmiga’s husband Renn Hawkey of the industrial metal band Deadsy, drummer Jason Bowman, guitarist Mark Visconti and bassist Mike Davis. Today they release their debut single, “The Crying Room,” which comes with a music video featuring Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hütz.

“’The Crying Room’ is about liberation and enlightenment,” says Farmiga. ‘It’s about crying your heart out. It’s a song that was filmed during and in the aftermath of an eclipse, and it’s about the eclipse of our souls. Eclipses have powerful effects on our psychology. They evoke awe and wonder. They are energetic portals that cause revelations and outpourings of emotions. They help us switch. People are capable of getting stuck in our shadows from time to time. It is in this balancing of the dualities of shadow and light, with one literally overshadowing the other, that we have the opportunity to look deep into our hearts and see what is going on internally, and bring that into the light. to take. No matter how dark it is.”

Intended to “honor the struggle of the Ukrainian people” (Farmiga and Hütz are of Ukrainian descent), the release of “The Crying Room” is a collaboration with RAZOM For Ukraine. Listen and watch below.
