Two identified during police chase in Prattville Tuesday

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (W.S.F.A) – Police are working to identify the two suspects arrested during a police chase which led from Prattville to Montgomery on Tuesday.

Prattville officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Memorial Drive around 8:45 p.m. Police Chief Mark Thompson previously said that on Oct. 2, officers spotted a motorist who they believed had been breaking into cars in the Baptist Hospital parking lot.

The driver, Joequisha Marshall, 29, of Lowndesboro, got out of the vehicle and entered a business, police said. That’s when the passenger, James Cain Jr., 20, of Montgomery, got behind the wheel and drove away.

Multiple law enforcement agencies joined the chase, which ultimately ended when the car crashed in the area of ​​Gibson Street and Lower Wetumpka Road in North Montgomery.

Law enforcement officials said Cain threw a gun from the car before he was arrested. Officers recovered the gun, which was reportedly stolen from Elmore County.

Cain and Marshall were both booked into the Autauga Metro Jail.

Cain is charged with felony attempting to elude law enforcement, unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle and third-degree theft of property. His bonds total $55,000.

Marshall is charged with failure to obey law enforcement and resisting arrest, with bonds totaling $1,000.

There were no injuries during the ordeal.
