Grandville man pleads guilty to child sexual exploitation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Grandville man pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child.

Thomas Aaron Hungerford54, was previously accused of sharing hundreds of sexually explicit images of children with an undercover investigator. That was him federally charged in June.

Hungerford was also suspected of breaking into the Grandville High School locker room to steal girls’ underwear. However, the district’s chief inspector said there was no evidence he had entered.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office – Western District of Michigan (DOJ) says that in August 2023, Hungerford filmed a girl – under the age of 18 – participating in sexual activity without her knowledge.

“Protecting children and teens from sexual exploitation is a critical part of our mission,” said U.S. Attorney Mark Totten. “I am grateful to the FBI for its swift and careful work on this case and for the work the Bureau does every day to protect children.”

Hungerford will spend 15 to 30 years behind bars, according to the DOJ.
