A death investigation begins into the shooting death of Lumberton man

LUMBERTON COUNTY, N.C. (WMBF) – A death investigation has begun in Lumberton after a man was shot Saturday afternoon.

Lumberton Police responded to a person shot near the intersection of NC Highway 211 and Saddletree Road just after 3 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man outside his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are investigating the incident.
