Four Vietnamese airports are suspending operations as Typhoon Trami approaches

HANOI (Bernama-VNA): Four airports in Vietnam will temporarily suspend operations due to Typhoon Trami, following a directive from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

According to Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the CAAV has announced closures at Phu Bai International Airport from 6am to 10pm on October 27, Da Nang International Airport from October 27 from 6am to 4am on October 28 and Dong Hoi Airport from 6am to 7pm on October 27, and Chu Lai Airport from 10am on October 27 to 10am on October 28.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation has been instructed to ensure that safety protocols are in place and to provide timely notifications to the relevant authorities.

Regional airport authorities are also tasked with closely monitoring security measures.

The CAAV has requested that any issues during the suspension be reported immediately for necessary adjustments.

Trami has already claimed more than a hundred lives in the Philippines and the country is preparing for another cyclone and the storm’s possible return. More than 4.2 million people have been affected there, and early estimates put damage to agriculture and infrastructure at 291 million pesos ($6.5 million).

Vietnam is still recovering from Super Typhoon Yagi, which ravaged the country’s northern provinces in September, killing hundreds of people and causing economic damage estimated at more than $3 billion. – Bernama/VNA
