San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittel are expected to play Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The team listed both players as questionable Friday: Samuel due to illness and a wrist injury and Kittle due to a foot sprain.

Samuel was limited to just four snaps against the Kansas City Chiefs last week due to illness. After the match he was hospitalized with pneumonia. He was released later on Tuesday and rejoined his teammates on Wednesday.

Neither Samuel nor Kittle practiced on Wednesday, but both had limited attendance on Thursday and Friday.

Samuel described the terrifying experience after Friday’s practice.

“To be honest, I really couldn’t breathe,” Samuel told reporters. “And I didn’t really know what was going on until after the game.”

He began to suspect that something was seriously wrong during the warm-up.

“I didn’t have the energy to run or anything for a while,” Samuel said. “And then I came in and we tried to do a lot of IVs… but luckily we found it right after the game, and then everything else as well.

“It was scary because it’s actually hard to breathe, and you can’t take a deep breath. So in the middle of that I’m thinking, ‘What’s going on?’ And then we found out after the game what was wrong.”

This season, Samuel has recorded 20 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown, along with 19 carries for 51 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Meanwhile, Kittle has recorded 34 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns.

Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir (illness) and safety George Odum (knee) are also questionable for Sunday evening. Defensive tackle Kevin Data (groin), wide receiver Juan Jennings (hip) and kicker Jake Moody (right ankle) are excluded.
