One charged with driving under the influence after Oro-Medonte crash

Three occupants of the other vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

A Barrie resident is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after a two-vehicle crash in Oro-Medonte.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to Forbes Road and Old Barrie Road on Saturday around 6 p.m.

Three occupants of one of the vehicles were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Witnesses told arriving officers that the driver of the other vehicle left the scene on foot.

A canine unit helped track down a suspect about a mile away from the collision.

Ryan O’Hara, 27, of Barrie has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • It’s impossible to stay
  • Careless driving
  • Cannot return the license
  • Cannot issue the insurance

In addition, their driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
