Police launch investigation after gunmen killed a drummer in Edo community

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly killed a drummer identified as HC Ikhamateh Akhumhele in Osholo community of Edo State.

DAILY POST reports that Osholo community is located in Uwanno Kingdom in Etsako East Local Government Area of ​​the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu, who spoke with journalists in Benin City, said the Command received the report of the incident on Saturday.

“We are meeting with community leaders regarding this unfortunate incident, while tactical teams have been deployed to search the crime scene and its surroundings for possible arrest of the suspects.

“The DPOs sharing borders with that area have also been informed of the issue and should be on the lookout for these suspects.

“The Command will appreciate any information from the public that could assist the police in nabbing the perpetrators,” he said.

It was gathered that the drummer was killed on Saturday, October 26, 2024 between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM along Iviukwe road in the community

Although the details of the incident are still sketchy, no one could determine what led to the drummer’s murder.

However, a resident of the community who spoke on condition of anonymity said there are no longer any police officers present in Agenebode, the administrative headquarters of the region.

DAILY POST recalls that the police station was recently attacked and destroyed by irate youths over the alleged kidnap and murder of a young man simply identified as Junior.
