Former DGP’s 54-year-old son commits suicide in MP

The 54-year-old son of Chhattisgarh’s former Director General of Police committed suicide by cutting the veins of his wrist and neck with a knife at his residence in Bhopal.

According to police, Shree Mohan Shukla’s son Tushar Shukla lived with his retired DGP father, mother, wife and son.

Tushar’s wife and son saw him bleeding profusely on Saturday evening and rushed him to the private Hajela Hospital near their home.

However, the doctors declared him brought dead. After receiving information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

Tuhar had been depressed for the past few years and was undergoing medication and treatment for it.

According to sources, Tushar had attempted suicide twice in the past.

Shree Mohan Shukla was the first DGP of Chhattisgarh state when the state was created after being separated from Madhya Pradesh in 2000. SM Shukla’s tenure was from November 1, 2000 to May 26, 2001 during the Congress government led by late Chief Minister Ajit Jogi.

After his retirement, SM Shukla was appointed chairman of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC). His term of office ran from May 26, 2001 to October 2, 2004.

SM Shukla is originally an IPS officer of the 1965 batch of Madhya Pradesh cadre.
