Man appears in court accused of murdering 69-year-old woman

A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a 69-year-old woman.

Dean Mark Albert Mears, of Bodelwyddan Avenue in Kinmel Bay, County Conwy, is also charged with aggravated burglary.

North Wales Police said the 33-year-old was arrested after the woman was taken to hospital from a property on Cefndy Road in Rhyl, Denbighshire, on Thursday evening.

The woman – whose name has not yet been confirmed by police – later died.

District Judge Gwyn Jones told Mr Mears that the Magistrates Court had no jurisdiction to hear a murder charge.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday.
