One dead in Goldsboro shooting; suspect wanted

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCT) – Law enforcement officers from the Goldsboro Police Department and deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a ShotSpotter alert on October 26.

Officers and officers arrived on Newsome Street and found 26-year-old Daquan Simms suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Simms was taken to UNC Health Wayne for treatment and flown to ECU Health in Greenville for further care.

On October 27, it was reported that Simms succumbed to his injuries.

The department is currently investigating the incident as a homicide.
