VP Sara Duterte in a blistering rebound

First of two parts

It is funny to see and hear the absurd and blatherskitic reactions of Vice President Inday Sara’s political enemies during the latter’s press conference on October 18, 2024.

In her press conference, VP Sara unleashed a barrage of sharp comments on what her followers described as the incompetent management of her former UniTeam teammate, for which she said she should not be blamed. She lashed out at his apparent insensitivity to those who sought his attention and generosity. She denounced his insincerity for failing to fulfill a personal obligation.

The lady-in-waiting who will assume the role of president of the entire political bureaucracy, should a vacuum arise in the presidency – due to the circumstances that arise – as set out in the Constitution, spared no sacred cows as she recited events that led to her running for vice president.

The president’s sister used Vice President Sara

She revealed that a presidential sister advocated and used her to strengthen the brother’s victory. As Marcos Jr.’s running mate. she assured the latter of the landslide Duterte votes.

She recalled that she did not want to run for president or vice president because she was, in fact, running for re-election mayor.

She debunked the widely accepted narrative that she had rejected her father’s insistence that she run for president. She claimed that former President Duterte never asked her to run for president; rather, he prevented her from accepting the call of the masses to succeed him in Malacañang. The former president did not want his daughter to experience the grueling, stressful, frustrating and thankless period of holding the highest political seat.

She said she ultimately agreed to take her local bid to the national level because she would be more vulnerable and more easily ousted as mayor if re-elected than if she won as the nation’s second-highest official . Her political enemies see her as a threat and an obstacle to their desire to remain in power beyond the current president’s term. She knew she would be the target of a demolition job related to the 2028 presidential election.

Apparently she was correct in her political assessment, as the attack on her character and reputation has accelerated with undisguised ferocity and unrestrained frequency.

Comments about FM remain an exaggeration

As expected from foolish, illiterate and cruel political enemies of VP Sara, the latter was nailed to the cross with their insolent, misguided, malicious and absurd responses to her comments on the remains of the late Apo Marcos. They even questioned her sanity. They might as well take that worry upon themselves.

These political enemies of Vice President Sara took her hyperbolic statement literally.

First, they conveniently forget that it was her father, former President Duterte, who honored the late President Ferdinand Marcos by allowing the burial of his remains at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. It was an official action that the four presidents before him – Cory Aquino, Fidel Ramos, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Benigno Aquino III – could not carry out, despite the unambiguous language of the law allowing the burial of former presidents and soldiers in the Heroes Cemetery. .

Those previous presidents were all terrified of what they wrongly perceived as a violent popular response if they allowed the late constitutional dictator’s burial at his legally designated final resting place.

It took a Duterte to defy expectations and correct a historic mistake made by the four previous presidents. VP Sara is not aware of this.

Second, these political opponents took her statement out of context. She responded to the continued attack on her integrity and reputation. She actually said, with exaggeration, that she would not stand idly by as these political opponents continued their demolition work against her, that she would fight back and attack them tit for tat, and that she would remain unbowed. That was the impeccable meaning of her statement.

Third, the original statement was made in a private chat, meaning it was not intended for public consumption. It was addressed to a specific member of the group. She only remembered a comment she made in the chat group.

Third, the comment was addressed to a presidential sister who did not react negatively to it, obviously because she attached no importance or malice to it; rather, she understood the context in which it was made. Such a statement was made in response to the ongoing attack on the person of Vice President Sara by the brother’s relatives and allies.

The addressee was not offended by it, as evidenced by her silence. So why should these political opponents of Vice President Sara be more papal than the Pope? What hypocritical greatness!
