Predictions, latest odds, injuries, what to look out for

The Carolina Panthers are in Denver today, looking to end a four-game slide that has wiped out all the positivity their win against the Las Vegas Raiders inspired. They are heavy underdogs and are dealing with more than a few major injuries. Things don’t look great for the Panthers on paper, but here’s everything you need to know.

The Panthers are 11-point underdogs today. They started just as much closer before switching to 7.5 point dogs. Now it’s even worse. The oddsmakers in Vegas have virtually no confidence in the Panthers today. They’re dealing with some serious injuries on offense and they’re facing a stout defense in the Broncos, who are 4-3 on the year. The moneyline is even less friendly: Panthers +425, Broncos -575.

The Panthers are one of the most hyped up teams in the NFL this week. Their starting quarterback, Andy Dalton, is nursing a sprained thumb and is doubtful. Cornerback Dane Jackson and running back Jonathon Brooks, who is in the second of his three-week stint returning from IR, are both also questionable.

Safety Jordan Fuller, safety Nick Scott, wide receiver Adam Thielen, wide receiver Diontae Johnson, outside linebacker DJ Wonnum and safety Jammie Robinson are all officially out. Jadaveon Clowney, Josey Jewell, Taylor Moton, Tommy Tremble and Sam Franklin Jr. are all questionable.

Things are much healthier on the Broncos’ side. Defensive back PJ Locke is questionable, while offensive tackle Alex Palczewski is questionable. They only have three other injuries to report, but they come without a designation and will play.

Since no one believes the Panthers can win, the only thing we have to pay attention to is Bryce Young. He is back as the starter in Andy Dalton’s absence. However, he has the cards stacked against him. Jonathon Brooks, Adam Thielen and Diontae Johnson are all out and he’s facing one of the league’s best secondary players. His two best pass catchers are the inconsistent Xavier Legette and Jonathan Mingo.
