Adele breaks down in tears and hugs Celine Dion during residency show in Las Vegas

Adele just celebrated a full-circle moment with the Queen of Power Ballads.

The ‘Easy on Me’ singer – who is nearing the end of her life Residence in Las Vegas – was in the middle of the show on Saturday evening when she saw one of her musical heroes, Celine Dionin the crowd.

In fan-made images From the emotional moment, Adele couldn’t help but stop her performance of “When We Were Young” to go into the audience and tearfully embrace the singer.

As the crowd went wild, the Grammy winners shared an emotional hug, exchanging a few words before Dion kissed the British siren’s hand and sent her on her way. Additional film material saw Dion dabbing her eyes while Adele did the same on the way back to the stage, occasionally choking as she continued the performance.

Adele made sure to spread the love and called on her audience to celebrate the Canadian icon. “Give it up for Miss Celine Dion!” she exclaimed, still wiping away tears as Dion rose to an ovation.

Once on stage, Adele took a moment to celebrate Dion, who she called “one of my favorite people of all time.” She then acknowledged the importance of crossing paths with Dion during a performance at the Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace, the venue originally built for Dion’s debut residency in 2003.

Recalling her decision to host her residency at the same location, Adele the crowd told“I don’t want to play in a room where Celine was – I want to play in the room that was built for her. And it was just about this room.”

The singer then repeated her intention take a long break after her residency comes to an end in November, adding, “I love my life and it’s real. And I’m not saying we’re not real tonight, but I have so many things I want to do.”

She added: “It’s been my ride-or-die, this room. This is just a full-circle moment for me, so it’s great.”

Adele’s love for Dion is well documented. Not just them owns a wad of the singer’s used chewing gumbut in 2018 she visited Dion backstage at the same location during her Power of Love residency. Then she continued writing Instagram“Queen Celine! What a show, an absolute highlight of my life. Thank you so much for the attention to your audience and the crazy humor. Happy New Year, lady x.”

In her own post, Dion wrote: “I couldn’t do all my shows but was thrilled that Adele came to one of them…I love her so much!!”

Dion was also the star who presented Adele with her 2017 Grammy for Song of the Year for her song “Hello.” Although Dion has stepped out of the spotlight in recent years due to her diagnosis Stiff person syndromeshe has been enjoying a comeback ever since singing during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in July.
