Two KCPD vehicles involved in an early morning crash on southbound Highway 71

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Police responded to a crash on southbound Highway 71 just before Bannister Road on Oct. 27 at 4:36 a.m.

The crash that resulted in injuries involved two Kansas City Police Department vehicles. Investigation shows that police were originally dispatched to another collision at the same location.

When police arrived, they found a black Dodge Charger abandoned and vandalized, and a City Tow was ordered for the vehicle.

A Ford Fusion came from behind and struck the rear of the KCPD Ford Explorer as police waited for the tow truck.

This crash forced the Explorer forward into the back of a second KCPD Ford Explorer. The second KCPD Explorer then struck the Dodge Charger.

The impairment is being investigated.
