‘I am shocked by the arrogance…’: Gautam Singhania slams Lamborghini over test drive debacle

Raymond chairman Gautam Singhania has publicly called out Lamborghini’s India and Asia heads over a test drive failure.

After reportedly taking a brand new Lamborghini Revuelto for a drive on October 3, Singhania got stranded at Mumbai’s trans-port link due to a complete electrical fault.

Despite sharing his concerns online, he said neither Lamborghini’s India head Sharad Agarwal nor Asia head Francesco Scardaoni have been contacted to address the issue.

“I am shocked at the arrogance,” Singhania wrote on LinkedIn, noting the luxury brand’s failure to acknowledge the problems encountered within 15 days of delivery. Known for its elite car collection, including models like the Ferrari 458 and Lamborghini Gallardo, Singhania is not new to the high-end car world, but the Revuelto’s misfortune has raised concerns about Lamborghini’s customer support and vehicle reliability.

Lamborghini does not yet want to comment, the story will be updated after comment from the brand.

His post sparked backlash on social media, with users criticizing the brand for its perceived disregard for Indian customers. “It is disheartening to see such behavior from a luxury brand,” said Sanjeev Mulchandani, an industry executive, who pointed out that India’s growing luxury market should be a priority for brands like Lamborghini.

He emphasized the importance of building relationships, especially as more Indian buyers invest in premium cars.

Real estate coach Girish Chhalwani echoed these sentiments and emphasized the need for a proactive approach from luxury brands to build trust and satisfaction. “Is this the reason why Indian brands are gaining popularity while international brands are failing to serve the Indian market?” he asked.
