Why did X suspend Ayatollah Khamenei’s Hebrew account a day after he sent a message to Israel? -TheWeek

Within hours of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei opening his Hebrew account on X, Elon Musk’s social media platform suspended operations.

Currently, the Hebrew handle, @Khamenei_Heb, shows that it has been suspended for violating the rules of X. The Iranian Supreme Leader has two other accounts, one in English and one in Arabic.

Khamenei, 85, posted two messages in the Hebrew account. The first read: “In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful.” This was reported on his official English account, Khamenei.ir.

In another post, the Supreme Leader wrote that the Zionist regime made a mistake and made mistakes in its calculations about Iran. “We will ensure that the country understands the strength, ability, initiative and will of the Iranian nation,” he added.

Earlier, Khamenei was quoted by the IRNA agency: “The evil committed by the Zionist regime (Israel) two nights ago should not be downplayed or exaggerated.”

Iranian officials must determine how best to demonstrate Iran’s power to Israel, Khamenei said.

This comes amid a New York Times report claiming Khamenei was “seriously ill” and that his son Mojtaba, 55, is likely to succeed him as the next Supreme Leader. A final call on the successor will be made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
