Manor driver caught doing 76mph among worst speed offenders over Bank Holiday weekend

Gardaí say a driver caught in Manorcunningham recorded one of the fastest speeds on Saturday and Sunday this Bank Holiday weekend.

The driver was caught driving at 75mph through a 60mph zone on the N13 near Maghera Beg in Manorcunningham.

That comes on top of a spate of drivers caught over the limit in Donegal on Saturday, including one driver traveling 35mph over the speed limit in Quigley’s Point.

That detection was one of 136 speeding motorists caught in the 24-hour period between Saturday and Sunday mornings.

According to gardaí, a total of 79,742 vehicles were checked for speeding during the period.

One of the most extreme speeding offenses this weekend was seen in County Meath, when a driver was caught speeding almost twice the speed limit.

The motorist was caught driving at 167km/h in an 80km/h zone in Castletown.

In a statement, gardaí reminded motorists to slow down and drive safely for the remainder of this Bank Holiday weekend.
