Missouri Department of Conservation announces closure of Capitol View Access

The Missouri Department of Conservation announced the closure of a water access point in Callaway County.

The Capitol View Access is located on Cedar Creek, half a mile before it flows into the Missouri River.

On October 24, the Missouri Department of Conservation announced the immediate closure of the access point.

The MDC cited problems with the development of the jetties and improper use of the area as reasons for its closure.

The announcement also stated that MDC engineers said the area should not be redeveloped.

The MDC said the concrete boat ramp that was once there collapsed and was removed. Since its removal, vandalism in the area has increased.

The department also said there has been an issue with access to nearby private property.

According to the announcement, the access was originally acquired in 1991 to provide boat access to the creek and river.
