Three arrested in Ohio during drug trafficking investigation

NEW MARSHFIELD, Ohio (WTAP) – Three people have been arrested during a drug trafficking investigation.

On October 25, the Athens County Task Force completed an investigation into drug trafficking and other criminal activity at 7500 Hawk Rd., New Marshfield.

“Investigators had previously determined that two campers on the property served as the primary residence of several people. As a result of the investigation, both campers were searched and multiple containers of methamphetamine were seized,” said Sheriff Smith.

Detectives also seized firearms, drug paraphernalia and additional evidence related to drug trafficking, according to the news release. All items were sent to BCI for testing and analysis.

The following detainees were:

  • Clayton Darst, 38, of 7500 Hawk Road, New Marshfield, was arrested by the Adult Parole Authority on a parole violation charge.
  • Ryan Rutter, 47, formerly of Mill Street, Chauncey (currently at 7500 Hawk Road), was arrested and charged with Possession of Drugs (F3) and Weapons Under Disability (F3).
  • Christine Bailey, 48, formerly of Mill Street, Chauncey (currently at 7500 Hawk Road), was arrested on a warrant issued out of Morgan County.

All three individuals are being held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

The case will now be forwarded to the Athens Public Prosecutor’s Office and additional charges are expected.
