Man wanted in deadly attack in East Nashville surrenders to police

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man wanted after a deadly attack in East Nashville surrendered to police Monday.

Metro Nashville police said 35-year-old Clifford Jones Jr. surrendered to officers on an outstanding murder warrant for the Oct. 21 attack on James Sutton at South 5th and Russell Streets.

Investigators identified Jones as the suspect after reviewing surveillance video. Police said he had visited an auto shop wearing the same clothing prior to the alleged murder.

“Surveillance footage in the area showed him being pushed to the ground during a physical altercation, resulting in fatal injuries,” MNPD said. “A judicial commissioner has set Jones’ bond at $40,000.”
