Former Iowa Hawkeyes star discusses ‘weird’ fight with twin brother

Football is the lifeblood of Iowa City, but every now and then it becomes Iowa Hawkeyes producing some good basketball players.

Recently, Iowa had twin brothers Keegan and Kris Murray in their midst, with the pair forming quite a dynamic duo for the Hawkeyes.

Keegan spent two years at Iowa before being selected fourth overall Sacramento Kings in 2022, and Kris spent three seasons with the Hawkeyes before eventually heading to the USA Portland Trail Blazers with the 23rd pick the following year.

On Monday night, the two former Iowa forwards will play against each other as Keegan’s Kings take on Kris’ Trail Blazers.

Keegan was asked about the fight ahead of the match and he said playing against his twin brother is something he is getting more and more used to.

“I know the first few times were a little weird, but now it’s just playing basketball,” Murray saidvia Sean Cunningham of Fox 40. “So it’s exciting when he comes into town or when we go to Portland.”

Sacramento and Portland both play in the Pacific Division, so the Murray brothers will see each other regularly during the regular season.

Keegan is definitely the better of the two players and is averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over his first few games this season. Last year he posted 15.2 points and 5.5 boards per night.

Meanwhile, Kris has averaged 4.3 points per game in a bench role through the first three games of the campaign for the Blazers. He put up 6.1 points and 3.6 boards per night during his rookie year last season.
