Trial postponed for man accused of shooting two people in a dormitory

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – A man is on trial for killing two people in a dorm room.

Nicholas Jordan went to court on Friday. His lawyer asked for a six-week extension. They claim Jordan cannot assist in his defense because he is “severely mentally ill.”

Two separate evaluations conducted earlier this spring determined he was competent to stand trial. The judge scheduled Jordan’s next arraignment for Nov. 22 and said a plea should be entered at that time.

Jordan is accused of fatally shooting his roommate and another person in a dorm room in February.

The 25-year-old is in custody on a $5 million bond.
