One person injured in pipe trailer accident on US 60

Eastbound US 60 at Ironwood Drive was shut down Monday afternoon due to a crash involving fallen pipelines.

Department of Public Safety officials say a heavy-duty pickup truck pulling a pipe trailer was traveling westbound on US 60 when it crossed into eastbound traffic.

The trailer reportedly overturned and the pipes ended up on the roadway. DPS says the trailer swung over the median and struck a passenger car. The driver of that vehicle was the only occupant and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

It is unclear whether the driver of the pickup was injured.

Eastbound traffic was halted, but has now reopened.

The crash is still under investigation.
