Tim Walz is accused of pushing the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party official to the brink of suicide in the 1980s

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz had a love affair with the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party official while teaching in Foshan that was so stormy she was on the brink of suicide, The Post has learned.

Jenna Wang, 59, told The Post in a telephone interview on Monday that she fell in love with the now governor of Minnesota when he was a young high school English instructor in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz had a romantic relationship with the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party official, according to a new report.
Wang had expected the passionate 1989 affair to end in a proposal, but instead it resulted in a rift that led her to commit suicide.

Wang expected the passionate 1989 affair to end in a proposal, but instead it resulted in a rift that left her considering suicide.

“I was deeply offended, hurt and had to leave that place because many people knew we were in a relationship,” Wang explained, saying Walz had suggested he planned to marry her.

That included sending Wang letters after she returned to the U.S. the following summer and even asking for a passport photo of her to send back to Denver, she said, implying that Walz helped her obtain of a visa.

“His lack of character, as a man, as a responsible person who has worked in education or in the military,” she added. “I thought he loved me too. I loved him.”

The affair took place during Walz’s teaching period in Foshan.

The Daily Mail first reported to the accusations made by Wang, who said she fled China for Italy just a few years after her ill-fated romance with Walz.

According to an open letter Wang also wrote to warn the American electorate about Walz, the two were initially “like husband and wife” — sharing tea and holding hands away from the watchful eye of her father, Bin Hui, a union . leader in her hometown of Guilin.

Hui would have been angry if he had seen his daughter fall in love with a Westerner, Wang told The Post.

Walz, now 60, arrived in China through the nonprofit WorldTeach and the two connected while Wang was teaching at a nearby high school.

The young lovers enjoyed karaoke together and Walz showered Wang with gifts, including gold jewelry and high-waisted jeans.

But then he became “the type of man a mother warns her daughter not to get involved with,” Wang’s open letter adds.

Walz, now 60, arrived in China through the nonprofit WorldTeach and the two connected while Wang was teaching at a nearby high school.

“While it is true that you had not promised marriage before coming back to China, marriage was what I had accepted,” she wrote. “Marriage, too, was what you had led me to believe – and had led others to believe, including that female colleague of yours with whom we had tea.”

According to Wang, the two had a disagreement over whether she really loved Walz or just wanted to get a visa, which she said was a “shock” because she was willing to give up her entire life in China to join Walz . home state of Nebraska.

“I gave up being with Tim, getting married and having a family,” Wang told the Daily Mail.

“Knowing he wouldn’t marry me made me feel cheap and mean, like I was being treated like a prostitute.”

They never met again, but Walz returned to China in 1993 to head an annual summer student program that connected high school students from Nebraska and Minnesota with Chinese institutions.

According to Wang, the two had a disagreement over whether she really loved Walz or just wanted to get a visa, which she said came as a “shock.”

The future governor of the Land of 10,000 Lakes married his wife, Gwen Whipple, the following year after returning to the US.

The wedding took place on June 4, the fifth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, so the Walzes could have “a date he will always remember,” his wife later recalled.

“Tim lied about Tiananmen Square and he also lied about other things,” Wang told the Daily Mail.

“This is a very crucial moment in history and a man like this does not seem to have the character and integrity to do one of the most important jobs in the world.”

Representatives for the Harris-Walz campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
