Man faces dangerous animal charges after Myrtle Beach police shot an ‘aggressive’ dog

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach police have confirmed they have arrested a man in connection with an incident where an officer shot an “aggressive” dog.

Myrtle Beach police were called to the 600 block of North Ocean Boulevard on Sunday at 10:14 p.m. to investigate a public disturbance.

45-year-old Daniel Linck was arrested in connection with the disturbances and is charged with, among other things, possession of a dangerous animal.

Officers on the scene found a Linck with a dog. The dog began charging at the officers and they used “less-than-lethal countermeasures to prevent it from attacking,” but that didn’t work, the MBPD said.

An officer eventually shot the dog, which was then taken to an animal hospital, police said. The dog is expected to be doing well.

One officer was taken to hospital after the incident, but has since been released.

WMBF News has requested reports on the incident and we will update this story as new information becomes available.

Linck is being held at the J Reuben Long Detention Center.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 843-918-1382.
