Montgomery school board approves contracts for interim superintendent and chief financial officer

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (W.S.F.A) – The Montgomery County Board of Education has approved the contracts for Interim Superintendent Jamie Wilson and Interim Chief School Financial Officer Pamela Watkins.

Both Wilson and Watkins will receive six-month contracts as the board prepares to search for the school’s next superintendent and chief financial officer.

Board President Brenda DeRamus-Coleman said the district will hire a consulting firm to prepare a profile for the superintendent position.

“They have resources that we don’t necessarily have locally,” Coleman said. “They will be able to conduct a broader and more comprehensive search and hopefully give us a wider range of great candidates to look at.”

Coleman said the consulting firm will seek public input through town hall meetings, focus groups or surveys.

The school board plans to send out requests for proposals to select a consulting firm for the search.
