Giants OT insists he shut down Steelers’ TJ Watt after being roasted: ‘Didn’t do anything’

TJ Watt’s stats and performance against the New York Giants were excellent. He had six printing presses, two bags and a critical comics bag with which he used the Pittsburgh Steelers to keep points off the board for the Giants.

Giants start at right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor said before the game that he wanted to stay on an island with Watt. On the critical strip sack, he was left on an island and Watt took advantage. However, he was roasted on social media for that statement. Eluemunor insists he won the duel with Watt for most of the match.

“I was on an island with him for most of the match. And he didn’t do anything. I’m not going to sit here and sing his praises,” Eluemunor said on WFAN Radio. “He did nothing for three and a half quarters and had one impact play.”

Watt was chipped at least half the time and Eluemunor was rarely on an island. Even in the game where Watt made the strip sack while left on an island, Giants head coach Brian Daboll revealed that Eluemunor was supposed to get chip help, but quarterback Daniel Jones failed to call for that protection.

Regardless, Eluemunor made sure Watt had his usual impact in a game. Watt continues to put together a strong Defensive Player of the Year candidacy as he plays more and makes an impact on games. Two more sacks after Monday’s win will only help that.
