Major mayor of the blue city scolds media who ask if Trump is Hitler: ‘Enough of this’

New York Mayor Eric Adams condemned the media for asking him about comparisons of former President Trump to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, arguing that they are out of touch with the American people.

During his weekly press conference at City Hall on Tuesday, Adams questioned whether Trump is fascist, a line of criticism that has especially emerged in the wake of Trump’s recent statements. meeting at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“With everything going on, we’re asking everyday New Yorkers questions that: ‘Is anyone a fascist? or is someone a Hitler?’ That’s insulting to me. That’s insulting,” he said. “And I’m not going to participate in that. Everyone must reject the rhetoric. Because after Election Day, we should still be the United States and not the divided states.”

“And so, if people can’t understand that there are real issues that New Yorkers are dealing with… and I think it’s just humbling that what ordinary mothers and fathers in this country are doing and experiencing, that we’re having this conversation here about this silly item,” Adams continued.

New York Mayor Eric Adams gave a speech admonishing the media for reckless Nazi comparisons.

“So I refuse to participate in that. I am going to fight for New Yorkers as I have been doing for years and anyone who cannot understand that is not on the streets. When I am in these town halls, when I talk to people there, they ask me no stupid questions.”

Adams continued warn journalists that they, like many politicians, are in a “bubble” that leaves them out of touch and focused on stories about comparisons to fascism rather than the concerns of everyday Americans.

“We’re in this bubble, you know, and I know you guys really believe in the stories you write. It gets you a lot of clicks. It’s exciting, it gets headlines. But this is not what New Yorkers and Americans are dealing with people, he said. “They are afraid for their future. Someone needs to stand up and say ‘enough of this.'”

He then underscored his point: “Tone down the rhetoric. Let people hear the facts. Let them vote and let’s decide what the next four years will be for our city. And that is my position. I can’t make it clearer.’

Adams denounced Trump’s MSG rally on Sunday for promoting “hate speech” from an invited guest speaker, despite Trump’s positive shoutout to the mayor at the event.

Last week, Adams came to Trump’s defense amid mounting claims from Trump critics, including Harris, that the 45th president is a “fascist” and on par with Hitler.

“I have had these comments thrown at me by some political leaders in the city; my answer is ‘No,’” Adams said Saturday when asked about the criticism of Trump.

“I know what Hitler did, and I know what a fascist regime looks like. I think, as I have called for again and again, that through the level of conversation we can all lower the temperature,” he added. .
