DETROIT (WXYZ) — Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy will provide an update Wednesday morning on their investigation into the murder of Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Reckling.

Reckling was murdered in Detroit on the night of June 22 while working undercover.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said he was following a stolen vehicle when one of the suspects got out and opened fire, hitting him multiple times.

Who are the suspects in the murder of Bradley Reckling?

One suspect, 18-year-old Karim Moore of Clinton Township, was charged in connection with the murder. He was indicted on three counts of lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation and one count of resisting arrest.

“He was in the vehicle involved in the shooting and killing of the police officer,” said Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Penney, who added that it was a sniffer dog that quickly caught Moore and two other people on a Detroit porch. helped locate. after Reckling’s murder.

Reckling, who was not wearing a bulletproof vest, followed the vehicle the three young men were in because it had been stolen from Madison Heights earlier in the day.

Two other 18-year-old men arrested with Moore are being held in connection with an unrelated case out of Troy in which they were out on bail. In that case, a teenager was charged with fourth-degree fleeing and eluding and carrying a concealed weapon, a firearm. The other teen was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
