Halloween parties and fall festivals keep the beaches in Ocean City and beyond rocking

When it comes to holidays like St. Patrick’s Day and Independence Day, beach partygoers have become accustomed to different locations choosing to redeem them on different days – and sometimes even on multiple days. Such is the case with Halloween. While some entertainment venues held costume parties last weekend, others are sticking to tradition and waiting until Thursday, October 31.

Second Seacrets Halloween Party is a free party for locals

In Ocean City, Seacrets held a huge costume bash at Morley Hall on Saturday, October 26, drawing throngs of partygoers with prizes including a trip for two to Jamaica. Next up is the annual Locals Halloween Party with DJ Wax on the tiki stage on Thursday, October 31 at 9pm; admission is free.

Shell Shocked is so big on Fager’s Island that it lasts two weekends

Elsewhere in Ocean City, Fager’s Island will kick off the two-part Shell Shocked oyster dinner this weekend. The first edition will take place on Saturday, November 2 from 12:00 to 16:00 with a performance by Sweet Leda ($80). The second part takes place on Saturday, November 9 from 12pm to 4pm and features music by Opposite Directions (also $80).

Listening Booth has Halloween Party, plus two big shows

Up north on the Sussex County coast, the Listening Booth always has a busy program of events. The concert venue on southbound Route 1 at Midway will host its Halloween party on Thursday at 9 p.m. with a cash prize for best costume and music via DJ Gregg ($25).

The Jimmies pay tribute to ’80s shows to venues across Delaware

In Dagsboro, the Clayton Theater is celebrating its 75th anniversary this fall. While it has long been a movie-watching destination, this landmark will host a concert series.

Local favorite The Jimmies will perform their tribute to 1980s music on the theater’s stage on Friday, November 1 at 7 p.m. ($20 in advance, $25 at the door). The Jimmies will also play a free show the following evening at Bethany Blues Lewes, located on Route 1 north at Midway, at 8:30 PM on Saturday, November 2.

Enjoy a rewarding shellabration at Camp Arrowhead

Camp Arrowhead, located in the Angola area west of Lewes, is hosting a free festival called A Grateful Shellabration on Saturday, November 2 from 10am to 4pm. It will honor the 30th anniversary of the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and feature three musical acts: Dragonfly Trinity, The Listening Booth Duo and Homestead Bluegrass.

There will undoubtedly be some Grateful Dead songs in honor of that band’s bassist Phil Lesh, who passed away last week. The rain date for the festival is Sunday, November 3.
