WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – As we enter the final official month of hurricane season, conditions in the Caribbean remain favorable for tropical development.

The National Hurricane Center on Wednesday highlighted the central and western Caribbean for possible development this weekend or even next week. The chance of development has increased to 50% in the next seven days.

“The thought is that some of this bubbling here, some activity north of Panama, could eventually become a disturbance. Maybe something stronger. But there’s a lot of disagreement between all the forecast models,” said WPTV First Alert Weather meteorologist Jennifer Correa. .

Until something emerges, we don’t know if it will have any potential impact on South Florida or the state in general.

Additionally, an area of ​​unstable weather causing showers and clouds in parts of the Greater Antilles, including Puerto Rico, has not yet been flagged by the NHC, but Correa said it is something to keep an eye on.

“It could track westward and maybe organize further. Or at least some of the moisture from that will eventually come over us early next week,” Correa said.
