LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A woman involved in a collision yesterday morning has died, but authorities believe she became ill before her vehicle crashed.

According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the collision occurred around 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30. The LMPD Traffic Unit says an adult female was driving a car leaving the Gene Snyder Freeway onto Preston Highway when she was found to have a medical condition. emergency.

Officers say the car and the impaired driver entered the Preston Highway intersection and collided with several highway signs before crossing a concrete median and colliding with a vehicle stopped at a red light.

The woman was taken to UofL Hospital by paramedics. Her injuries were described as ‘critical and life-threatening’. She died in hospital around 3:25 p.m. Her name has yet to be released.

The man driving the vehicle that was struck during the crash was taken to UofL Health-South Hospital in Brooks with minor injuries.
