Senator Collins announces funding to help low-income families before winter

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Senator Susan Collins has announced millions of dollars in funding for the state’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The state received $37.5 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The program helps low-income households and older Maine residents on fixed incomes pay their energy bills through the winter.

Collins also announced that Maine Tribes have received more than $1.4 million in assistance.
