Marietta City Schools teacher facing unspecified charges | News, sports, jobs

Allegations have been made against a Marietta City Schools teacher.

“We are aware of the allegations against one of our employees and are taking the situation very seriously,” the spokesperson said. Marietta City School Interim Superintendent Alison Woods said in a district Facebook post Thursday afternoon.

Woods said in the post that the district refrained from making a public statement at the time the allegations were made out of respect for and in accordance with law enforcement’s investigative process.

“Notwithstanding this, as soon as we became aware of the allegations, we took swift action: we sent the teacher home, instructed the teacher not to have any contact with students or staff and banned the teacher from being on school grounds to be found.” the statement said.

Woods said in the post that ensuring the safety and care of students in the district’s schools is his top priority.

“We are cooperating fully with local police and will continue to do so.” she said in the post.

Requests for comment on the situation and for information on the allegations from Marietta City Schools Communications Coordinator Christian Hudspeth, Marietta Police Chief Katherine Warden, Marietta Police Capt. Ryan Huffman and Marietta Police Capt. Aaron Nedeff are still pending as of this writing not answered.

Woods responded to requests for comment and stated that the district has no further comment at this time.
