A woman Sarpanch’s father-in-law is seriously injured in a shooting in Karnal village

In a shocking incident on Friday afternoon, Mahinder Singh, father-in-law of Sarpanch Babita Rani, was seriously injured after unknown assailants opened fire on him at his residence in Bhambarehri village of Karnal district. The attackers, estimated to be three to four in number, arrived at Singh’s house around 12 noon and fired several bullets before fleeing the scene.

A police investigation is underway, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. According to DSP Assandh Satish Gautam, the incident is suspected to be related to an old rivalry. “We have registered a case under sections of attempt to murder and are actively investigating all leads,” Gautam said. “It appears to be an old rivalry, and we are confident that those responsible will be apprehended quickly.”

The attack has sparked outrage among villagers, who are demanding swift action against the attackers. Local residents are calling for the immediate arrest of the suspects.
