Two charged in Nashville jewelry store robbery: more than  million in gold, jewelry

Two people have been charged after allegedly stealing more than $1 million in gold and jewelry at a recent gathering in Nashville. Tennesseejewelry store robbery.

The alleged robbers, Orlando Valdes Hernandez and Milleni Garcia, were each hit with multiple counts after police arrested them Sunday at a hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, according to Metro Nashville Police (MNPD).

The MNPD told FOX Business that the third alleged thief has still not been identified or arrested as of Friday.

The robbery of three people of Dubai Jewelry, located in Southeast Nashville, was recorded on the store’s video surveillance system.

At the time of the robbery, two people were working, one of whom allegedly “pepper sprayed” Valdes Hernandez after he and Garcia spent some time looking at jewelry boxes, the MNPD said. He also allegedly held both workers at gunpoint.

The surveillance footage shows two of the alleged thieves quickly taking items from display cases and wall displays and placing them in bags.

Miami Beach police have recovered “at least some of the jewelry” stolen during the “shameful crime,” according to the MNPD.

Nashville police worked with the Miami Beach Police, FBI and Nashville International Airport Police as part of their investigation into the theft of Dubai Jewelry, the department said.

Thieves steal more than $100 million in jewelry every year, according to the FBI.
