Illegal migrant arrested for allegedly raping 5-year-old girl on Long Island: police

An illegal migrant who skipped an immigration hearing after being let loose at the U.S.-Mexico border has been arrested for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl on Long Island — and police believe he may have more victims, officials said Friday.

Honduran national Wilson Castillo Diaz, 27, is accused of attacking the girl in Westbury last month, Nassau County police said.

Investigators declined to release details about the gruesome crime, including whether Diaz knew the child before the alleged rape or who reported it to police.

A criminal complaint obtained by The Post says Diaz raped the girl in his bedroom on the afternoon of Oct. 16 and also showed her pornographic images on his TV.

The girl was taken to a local hospital for medical examination after the alleged attack, police said.

Nassau County Police Chief Patrick Ryder said investigators are still looking into the case and trying to determine if Diaz had any other alleged victims.

“In this case, this 27-year-old man didn’t wake up one day and decide, ‘I’m going to rape a five-year-old girl.’ So we think there may be more victims,” Ryder told reporters.

Diaz, who lived in Westbury and has no prior criminal history, illegally entered the U.S. near Rio Grande, Texas, as an unaccompanied minor in April 2014 at age 16, police and federal law enforcement sources said.

He was taken into custody by US border agents but was later released after receiving a summons to appear before an immigration judge.

Diaz subsequently failed to show up for the immigration court hearing, according to police.

Sources said he was removed in absentia in 2016 after missing his court hearing.

It is not clear when Diaz first came to New York, or how long he lived there before the alleged attack.

“I cannot emphasize enough how disheartening this is that this crime could take place against such a young girl whose innocence was taken from her,” said Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, adding that the alleged perpetrator “should not have been involved in this case.” to sit.” country.”

“Nassau County is not a sanctuary, and for good reason, because we are trying to keep out illegal immigrants who have not been vetted. We don’t know who they are. We don’t know where they came from. We don’t know if they have a criminal record,” continued Blakeman, a Republican.

“But unfortunately, our state is a sanctuary state and policies in Washington have turned us into a sanctuary state.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified of Diaz’s arrest and has released a detainee for him, police said. This means that they will deport him after the criminal proceedings against him have taken place.

Diaz was indicted last Wednesday on a slew of charges, including rape, attempted rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was being held in the Nassau County Jail on $200,000 bond.

His attorney did not return a request for comment Friday.
