Hong Kong motorcyclist, 67, dead after collision with car in Kowloon

A 67-year-old Hong Kong motorcyclist has been killed and his female passenger injured after colliding with a car at an intersection in Kowloon Bay.

A pedestrian called police around 11:20 a.m. Saturday after seeing the man and the rider in the backseat lying on the ground at the intersection of Wang Chiu Road and Kai Cheung Road.

The man was sent to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong and was pronounced dead at 11.55am.

The 61-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with injuries. The car driver, 42, also required medical treatment after hurting his hand.

About two weeks earlier, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed after ramming into the back of a stationary light truck on the Lantau Link, which came to a stop along the way.

According to data from the transport authorities, the city recorded 2,800 to 2,900 motorcycle accidents in 2022 and 2023.
