Russia is one of the countries invited to the OSCE Ministerial Council – Chairman – World

VIENNA, November 2. /TASS/. The Maltese Presidency of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has sent invitations to delegations from all Member States for the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers to be held in Valletta in December, a representative of the press service said Maltese Presidency. said TAS.

“Invitations have been sent to all members of the organization. Delegations are receiving updated information about preparations (for the event),” the spokesperson said.

The meeting will focus on “security challenges and the organization’s role in addressing them,” the agency source said. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova previously told TASS that Malta, as chairman of the OSCE, must guarantee equal participation of all delegations at the meeting of foreign ministers scheduled for December.

On September 28, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told TASS that Russia plans to participate in the OSCE Ministerial Council to be held in Malta on December 5 and 6.

In 2022, Poland, then chairman of the OSCE, denied the Russian delegation led by Lavrov from participating in the Council of Ministers meeting in Lodz. The Russian Foreign Ministry characterized Warsaw’s actions as unprecedented, provocative and contrary to Poland’s role as chairman of the organization. In 2023, the government of North Macedonia decided to allow Lavrov’s plane to fly over its airspace to attend the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Skopje.
