Shots fired during attempted carjacking in Milwaukee, man says: video

Shots were fired near 62nd and Melvina was captured on the doorbell camera

Gunfire hit a Milwaukee man’s home after he said suspects shot at him as he tried to steal a car Saturday morning — and the whole thing was caught on camera.

Clifford Taylor said he woke up to the sound of broken glass just before 8 a.m. He ran to his front door and saw four people trying to steal his daughter’s car. The next thing he knew, he was dodging bullets.

“They have no respect for life,” he said. “I was just shocked by the audacity of this young man to simply say, ‘Should I kill him?'”

Doorbell camera video captured one of the suspects shooting at Taylor before they all scattered near 62nd and Melvina. He said the gunman fired about three shots, all of which missed, but one of those bullets went straight through his living room window.

“When you opened fire on my house, you have no idea who was inside on the other side of the wall,” Taylor said. “You put my family in danger.”

Taylor told FOX6 News he has seen an increase in crime in the area over the years. He added that police quickly came to investigate and that neighbors were supportive. He said he is confident the four suspects will be caught, and if that happens, he has one request.

“I’m just asking if I can maybe talk to them and give them some advice,” Taylor said.

Taylor said the incident has rattled his wife, angered his son and confused his grandchildren. But he said he tries to solve problems, instead of running from them — and he’s not going anywhere.
