Tennessee man arrested after months of investigation into sexual assault of a minor

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A Tennessee man was reportedly arrested during a six-month investigation in Bay County.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that David Edward Grant was taken into custody after their investigators identified him as a suspect in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor.

According to the official statement, BCSO deputies were called to Alaska Circle in May 2024 regarding a domestic call. Officers said they learned that a 15-year-old victim had contacted an adult male on Snapchat and may have met in person and had sexual relations in Bay County.

Investigators said they identified the man as Grant, who worked in the traveling commercial construction industry. They said they confirmed Grant took the child to a local hotel where they engaged in sexual activity.

BSCO authorities said that during the course of the investigation, they issued and executed more than ten search warrants and subpoenas, and collected a large amount of evidence.

Investigators said that on October 31, 2024, Grant was at a hotel in Saraland, Alabama, just outside Mobile, where he worked. They said he was taken into custody and booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail, where he was interviewed by BCSO investigators who obtained a full confession.

We’re told Grant is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County, where he will be charged with sexual assault of a person over the age of 12 but under the age of 18 with special conditions; Traveling to meet a minor for sex; and using a child in a sexual performance.
