On Sunday, Dubai Police said Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri had reviewed the workflow of the General Ministry of Transport and praised their efforts to maintain safety on the emirate’s roads.




The department provided Al Marri with an overview of strategic indicators that aim to reduce the number of road deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. This involves using the latest smart technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI), and relying on qualified specialists, to effectively manage traffic flow.

Reducing road fatalities is a goal seen in several parts of the UAE. In September, Sharjah Police announced a A decrease in the number of fatalities by 15 percent per 100,000 inhabitants in the first half of 2024, compared to the same period last year. This was accompanied by a decrease in the number of road accidents by 9 percent per 10,000 vehicles.

As part of the Commander-in-Chief’s annual inspection visit to the General Department of Traffic in Dubai, Al Marri also examined the statistics on traffic violations for 2023, including the areas with the highest violations, the most frequently cited violations and the types of violations. vehicles most often involved.

He also assessed the performance of various enforcement teams, including those focused on pedestrians, public transport and bicycles and scooters. The number of beneficiaries of traffic campaigns reached 125,393, including 29,455 who attended traffic lectures and 95,938 who made field visits to exhibitions and police stations. In addition, the General Traffic Service took part in 432 events this year, including 194 official parades.

At the end of the visit, Al Marri honored the employees and partners of the General Traffic Department for their contributions to the success of its events, programs and initiatives.
