Two Delhi traffic policemen were dragged for 20 metres, case filed

In a hit-and-run case, two Delhi traffic police personnel were allegedly hit and dragged by a car for about 20 meters while they were on duty in south-west Delhi, a police officer said. According to police, the incident took place at Ber Sarai traffic light near Vedant Deshika Marg on Saturday evening around 7.45 pm.

“The injuries sustained by ASI Pramod and Head Constable Sailesh were reportedly minor. But the intention was to kill them. A case involving attempted murder and obstruction of performance of official duties and charges of endangering the lives of the public have been registered. the officer said.

“A PCR call was received at Kishan Garh police station stating that an unknown vehicle had hit the traffic policemen on duty and fled the scene,” the officer said. He said a team was immediately sent to the spot and found that the injured staff had been taken to Safdarjung Hospital in a PCR van.

The team reached the hospital and found that Assistant Sub Inspector Pramod and Head Constable Sailesh Chouhan were in a conscious and stable condition, the officer said. According to their statements, they were conducting routine challans for traffic violations.

At around 7.45pm, a vehicle jumped a red light and when Sailesh signaled to stop, the driver initially complied but suddenly tried to flee, dragging the staff for about 20 meters before speeding away from the scene, said the officer. Police said they have identified the owner of the vehicle and he will be arrested soon.
