Driver dies in Madison Township, sheriff says

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A driver was killed after a single-vehicle crash in Madison Township Friday evening, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.

Sheriff Jones says deputies and the Madison Township Fire and Life Squad were called to the 2400 block of Woodsdale Road around 11 p.m.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of a black Jeep went off the road when the vehicle went over an embankment, causing it to overturn, Sheriff Jones explained.

There were two occupants in the Jeep, the driver and the passenger.

Sheriff Jones says the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unclear whether drugs, alcohol or speed played a role in the crash.

Deputies have not released any names at this time.

The crash is still under investigation.
